PATNA: RJD president,Lalu Prasad,who is lodged in the prison ( paying )ward of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences(RIIMS) at Ranchi is being shifted to the sprawling 25 acres Kelly’s bunglaow ,which till recently was official accommodation of director of the institute.

District administration has decided to convert the bungalow into temporary jail to accommodate Lalu who is a convicted prisoner.

Decision to shift Lalu from RIIMs ward was taken on the recommendation of the hospital superintendent who had informed the jail superintendent of Birsa Munda Jail and senior SP of Ranchi .He told them in an official communication since,three attendants of Lalu have tested Corona positive,he should be moved else where.Lalu’s swab was also collected,but it was found negative.Hospital has decided to retest Lalu on Saturday.

At present 18 rooms in the RIIMS are converted into Prison ward for convenience of the former Railway Minister,Health Minister of Jharkhand,Banna Gupta,who had met Lalu in the ward said the first floor of the hospital and canteen have been closed as some canteen staff too were found having positive symptoms.

Kelly Bungalow is a British era bholding isull of fruit bearing trees and has big garden,which will allow Lalu to have morning and evening stroll and meetings with visitors.It has two big dining halls,two verandas,four bedrooms.

City SP of Ranchi tonight visited Kelly Bungalow to oversee the security arrangements and said the force would be deployed in the make shift jail.

Lalu is in RIIMS since April,2018 when he was shifted from AIIMS,New Delhi,where he stayed for a month.

He was shifted following orders of the Supreme Court after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had long meeting with him in the hospital ward.

He was examined by a medical board on April 28,2018 and found fit to travel to Ranchi in a train under police escort.

Lalu who is convicted in five different cases related to fodder scam since December,2017 was in Birsa Munda Jail for three months and then shifted to RIIMS.

Earlier,he was sent to jail in 2013 following his first conviction in one of the fodder scam cases by a CBI court of Ranchi.
