PATNA: Corona effect on coming assembly elections is being felt now.The ruling LJP and the opposition RJD have demanded postponement of the elections.JDU cancelled its proposed massive Virtual rally planned for August 7. BJP has left it to the Election Commission wisdom

LJP and RJD have officially sent communications to the Election Commission demanding rescheduling of the elections.The Congress has already categorically declared elections be deferred.AAP and JAP of Jeetan Ram Manjhi and Pappu Yadav have also written to the commission opposing elections in October-November.The Left parties had already submitted memorandum opposing elections.
RJD’s principal national secretary general Abdul Bari Sidiqqui in his three pages letter to the Commission said entire state was in grip of Corona and feared during October ,it may become alarming when one million people would be affected.He quoted an official statement and said in Begusarai,ten members election officers engaged in EVM
management training have tested positive.
Sidiqqui said the office of the BJP was sealed when its state president,vice-president,75 office-bearers tested positive.Ministers,MPs and MLAs are admitted in hospitals,he told the commission and suggested elections should be postponed.
The LJP president,Chirag Paswan too asked the commission to postpone the elections as the entire state machinery was engaged in fighting floods and Corona.Campaign may not be fair,he said.
